Visit no 2 - again great food, the lomitos were tender and garlicy and the bean puree was a nice surprise rather than how it's traditionally served. My only quibble was the portion size was a little small but the food was incredibly tasty.

This one on Calle 62 tends to draw mostly locals and Mexican tourists. The second location, across from Parque Santa Lucia probably sees more tourists and does have a nicer atmosphere. Staff are friendly and menus for both places are the same. The food is consistently good and generally fairly quick to arrive. Tortillas are being made fresh constantly, and there doesn't seem to be a limit to how many I can get with my food. I've been for meals at any time of the day, and I think the breakfast packages are especially filling and flavourful. I have never had a bad meal at either La Chaya Maya, though! Be prepared to wait for a table around peak meal times, but it's easy enough to get right in if you plan to dine outside of those hours! Enjoy!

However, the other dish that we ordered wasn’t quite as good and was overly dry; we got the platter with longaniza, poc chuc, and a grilled chicken. Even with the additionak salsas offered and tooping it with a bunch of like wasn’t enough to counteract the dryness.
Service was good, I won’t say exceptional but we were seated quickly and they helped us pack our remaining food up quite well. The tortills were made right in front of us by the abuela in the photo, so there were only a few provided at a time. We got an agua de chaya con piña and con lima; both were delicious.
I would come here again but would avoid ordering the large platter again and opt for more small plates like tacos and sopas.
